Open Science Group
The Open Science working group consists of several subgroups with the common goal of making knowledge accessible to everyone worldwide. In order to do this, we pursue a variety of approaches starting locally at the Max Planck Institutes and reaching a global publicity on an international conference, such as OpenCon.
Our Open Access Ambassadors aim for a sustainable transition towards Open Access in the long term by integrating Open Access principles as a standard process in the research workflow of early stage researchers at the Max Planck Society. The extension of the good scientific practice (GSP) guidelines and the organization of seminars and events about Open Access for scientists is the main topic of the GSP and Seminars subgroup. The Public Outreach and the Survey group focus on developing ideas on how to make scientific knowledge available to the public.
The Open Science working group sends a delegate to the OpenCon, a conference providing a platform for young researchers to learn about Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data, develop critical skills, and catalyze action toward a more open system for sharing the world’s information—from scholarly and scientific research, to educational materials and digital research data.
